Marshall Chapman - The Tall Girl Skinny

JANUARY 2010

Whew!

I don’t know where to begin. Suffice it to say, my life has taken an unexpected turn. A week ago I was asked to read for a movie being filmed in Nashville. Long story short, I got the part! My character’s name is Winnie. I play Gwyneth Paltrow’s road manager (yes, we have speaking scenes.) Tim McGraw plays my boss. The movie is called LOVE DON’T LET ME DOWN. It’s directed by Shana Feste, who wrote and directed last year’s award-winning drama, The Greatest (starring Pierce Brosnan and Susan Sarandon). As far as I can tell, LOVE DON’T LET ME DOWN is All About Eve in a country music setting.

My first shoot was this morning. My “call time” (time I had to be on the set) was 6:42 AM. Since this is my first movie, I really didn’t know what to expect. I’m happy to report it went great, and I made a lot of new friends. Now that I’m back home, I feel like an alien!

Michael Utley, Will Kimbrough, Jim Mayer, Casey Woods, and I continue to work on my new CD, BIG LONESOME, at Casey’s studio, The Insanery. Meanwhile, Jay Orr (Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum) and Vanderbilt Press make final touches in preparing my second book, THEY CAME TO NASHVILLE, for publication.

It’s looking like a fall release for the book, the CD, and the movie. (As for GOOD OL’ GIRLS, see below)

Somebody pinch me, so I’ll know I’m not dreaming.

P.S. Thanks to all my FB friends for your good wishes while I was reading for Winnie!
