JULY 2010
Oh Happy Day!
On Wednesday, July 14, Governor Bredesen commuted Gaile Owens’s death sentence to life in prison. There is no way to describe my feelings when I heard this news. It was, by far, my happiest day as a Tennessean. Thanks to everyone who worked so hard on this case, and to all of you who signed the petition. Our voices were heard!
I thought this would be a slow month. Ha! Whoever planned to release a book and CD on the same day (Oct. 30) needs to have her head examined. Seriously, things are moving forward and tour dates are starting to pour in.

Movie update! For the past two days, I’ve been working on Love Don’t Let Me Down (which is now being called Country Strong). Some additional scenes are being shot in Nashville and Austin, and it’s been great seeing everybody … not to mention being back on the TomKats chow wagon. Look for a December 22 release and a Nashville premiere come CMA week!

The June 29th benefit for the Bluebird Café was standing room only. Thanks to everyone who came out and showed their support!
Until next time …
Stay cool.
P.S. Thanks also to Brenda Sanchez in Pensacola for the salsa soup recipe!
