Marshall Chapman - The Tall Girl Skinny

JUNE 2011

Thanks to everybody who came out last Saturday for my performance at the Spartanburg Library as we kicked off their “Rock and Read” Summer Series. It was also great seeing everybody at the Hoover Library Friday evening in Birmingham. Another recent highlight was Hippie Jack’s Americana Music Fesitval in Crawford, TN (more about this in the next Tall Girl Skinny).

This just in! They Came to Nashville is #5 in Austin! Thanks to the dedicated staff at BookPeople, Austin’s numero uno independent book store, and my friends Jane Hilfer, Sandra Gregor, and John Mayfield who helped spread the word. I love you guys! This also just in: my first article for W Magazine is now on the stands! It’s the July issue, and I hope you’ll check it out.

Tomorrow I’m here in Nashville for the Annual Fundraiser for the Literacy Council of Williamson County. Then it’s off to the Bay Area for more gigs. (Click here for details.) California, here we come!

When not on the road, Chris and I enjoy putzing around the kitchen while following Vanderbilt baseball! This Saturday, Tim Corbin and the boys will be making their first-ever appearance at the College World Series in Omaha, so Go ‘Dores! We wish you the best of luck.

Listed below is my favorite watermelon salad recipe.

P.S. Radio Margaritaville plans to re-air my interview with DJ Kirsten next Saturday 6/25 at 10am (ET) and Sunday 6/26 at 10 pm (ET). You can tune in online or at Sirius XM Channel 24.

  4. Place the watermelon in serving dishes and sprinkle with the radishes, scallions, mint, and peanuts. Drizzle with the lime juice and oil. Season each salad with salt and pepper.
  5. Break the cooked prosciutto into pieces and sprinkle over the salads before serving.
