Twichell Auditorium in Spartanburg, SC

This just in!

Tommy Womack & Will Kimbrough join Marshall in her hometown for an evening of songs and stories at historic Twichell Auditorium on the campus of Converse University.

“Tommy and Will are as brilliant as it gets as far as present-day Nashville,” says Marshall. “This will be my favorite show of the year, for sure!”

“To perform in Twitchell Auditorium where I played a piano recital at age 6 … saw Jan Peerce and Blanche Thebom perform with the Spartanburg Symphony Orchestra … where I sang with the Sparkletones to commemorate the publication of Peter Cooper’s book about musicians from Spartanburg (Hub City Music Makers) … where I saw Jimmy Buffett perform in 1974 … and where I played with my Jaded Virgin Band in 1978 … will be a night to remember, for sure!

Virtual Gala – “One Story at a Time”

A fundraiser that will put you in the Christmas spirit for sure!

I’ll be online with Linda Carrol, an author/presenter whom I met at Rancho La Puerta. And also with Peter Yarrow (of Peter, Paul and Mary) whom I met in Spartanburg in 1976 when Uncle Walts Band and I kidnapped him after he’d played a concert at Wofford College. He was touring with Mary MacGregor who had a huge hit at the time called “Torn Between Two Lovers” which Yarrow wrote and produced.

Carroll and Yarrow co-founded “One Story at a Time,” an organization which helps migrants in the borderlands. One of their projects supplies instruments (violins, cellos, etc) and music lessons for kids in the Baja region of Mexico. I witnessed firsthand a group of young women in concert while I was at Rancho La Puerta in October and they were amazing!

P. S. I will have had facial surgery the day before, but I plan to “shower and show up” regardless.
